San Francisco-based Chef Robotics, founded in 2019, has closed a $14.75 million funding round, combining equity and debt. This follows a January 2021 raise of $7.7 million, bringing the total funding to $22.5 million.

Chef Robotics plans to use the funding to deploy its go-to-market strategy, which revolves around a Robotics as a Service (RaaS) model.

The RaaS model allows companies to access robotic solutions without the steep upfront costs. Chef Robotics distinguishes itself by focusing on food assembly, rather than cooking, and emphasizes its underlying software, ChefOS, to drive its robot arm’s decisions.

The company has robots deployed at food companies in five cities across the US and Canada, including Fortune 500 food companies, with quadrupled recurring revenue from 2022 to 2023. The funds will be used to expand the team and further develop its technology.
